Why Data Governance Matters in AI

An interesting topic I've seen being talked about on the internet a lot recently is Data Governance in AI Applications. One of the ways I saw it get brought up was related to the new Kimi K3 Open-Weight model. Essentially, Moonshot AI used distillation from Anthropic's Claude Fable model to develop their Kimi K3 model.

I'm not sure if this is true, but the evidence is definitely there. The thing I was thinking about is the important question this raises: What are the dangers of a model created through distillation, and how do they ensure their data governance layer is secure? Do we know they're putting enough effort into that layer, or putting any effort into safety features at all if shortcuts were taken during the model's development?
